Chicago has slowly but surely been winning me over. My recent trip was filled with warmth and hospitality that I have begun to associate with the Windy City. My second trip to Chicago in as many years began with a missing dog and ended up in the stables of a horse barn in Beecher. During my stay I headlined the launch party for K94keeps.org – a new Chicago area dog rescue group and put on an animal communication clinic for the ABU Arabian Horse Club in Beecher, IL. In my travels I came into contact with some wonderful people and made new friends, best of all I changed several lives and communicated with dozens of animals, living and past including cats, dogs, horses a monkey and even a lama.

In early August this year Kristin Yoshida lost her dog Milo in Chicago. When she contacted me to locate him I was successful in making contact with him and having him lead us directly to him. He told me the area where he went missing, showed me where he was. He was in a hurry to get rescued, he told me that he was stuck in a parking garage. His leash was jammed under the tire of a vehicle that he described as a cross between an SUV and a sedan. Milo said that the vehicle was white with black and green company logo/lettering on it. He said that he could not vocalize because his collar had gotten tight around his neck in his efforts to free himself. When he was found, he was as I had described, underneath a white Enterprise rent a van.

The story of his recovery was big news as was the story of his disappearance. That night Milo’s story was on TV http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news%2Flocal&id=8295871 and I was once again happy to see an animal rescued due to my ability to communicate with them telepathically. The building where he lived was buzzing with the news of his amazing story and pretty soon one of the individuals who works at the building contacted me about her animals, several cats and horses. She was very happy with the connections I provided for her and she asked if I could connect with her boarders and their horses.

Soon after her initial “reading” she arranged a get together at her stables and the phone was passed around with me connecting everyone present to the horses in front of them. At one point a horse who had passed came through, gave us his physical description and age and then delivered one of the most touching messages I have delivered in some time. The horse said, “When it is your turn to cross over to the other side, I will greet you and carry you across on my back.”

Milo has been going to Bark Avenue Playcare for awhile and Daniel and Amy mentioned that they were launching a dog rescue group called K94keeps.org. After adopting out and helping around 150 dogs over the past few years they along with a few others got together and founded the dog rescue group. To celebrate the launch of their non-profit dog rescue, they wanted to throw a party/fundraiser and thought I would be a great additional to their event.

One of the woman who I connected to her horses over the phone was connected to the ABU Arabian Horse Club and asked if I could put on a clinic for them. So with another missing dog out there, and events lined up I booked a flight and headed out to Chicago.

With my coming out to Chicago, I figured I would have one last chance to try and bring in a missing dog named Queenie, I had been volunteering my time over the phone to search for her and after hitting several snags felt as though we might finally have a chance of connecting with her. In my experience if an animal wants to be found, they typically cooperate fully, provide detail as to their whereabouts and are recovered fairly quickly or within the time frame they specify.  Queenie had not cooperated from the beginning.

What had started out as your typical simple missing animal case had taken on a whole new dimension. Queenie took off near O’Hare airport in Wood Dale and belonged to a truck driver based in Oregon, over 2,000 miles away. Queenie, a “blue” Queensland Healer or cattle dog with a stubby tail had been caught twice, but gave each person the slip. She clearly did not want to be caught.

Shortly after getting involved in the search for her, it became apparent to me that the clues to her location were coming from someone else and not the dog. After having no sightings for over a week I was successful in pulling the search teams out of the wrong town and placing them within less than an hour of her whereabouts. Once the searchers converged on a park that I had led them to, a police officer stopped them and asked them what they were doing. When shown the missing poster he reported having seen the dog himself not more than 45 minutes earlier at an intersection about a block or two away.

With her within a short distance of the search teams she again gave those trying to help return her to her owner the slip, under the cover of darkness she disappeared into a nearby forest preserve. A few months later with winter fast approaching and a trip to Chicago taking place I decided to reach out and try and connect with her, so as to bring her in before the first snows had fallen.

Making contact with information concerning her possible whereabouts and having received no additional sightings since the last time she gave us the slip, a team was assembled and a location to focus on was brought to our attention. This time the search area was another forest preserve, a bit west of the last area she was seen in and far enough from the airport so that the noise of the planes was not as intense. Most importantly it was the type of environment that Queenie could easily survive in and stay hidden from those attempting to bring her in.

After searchers checked out the new location to no avail I figured that I would throw a “hail Mary” pass and try and locate her myself, in person.

So, with two events, private readings being booked, and a missing dog to locate, I drove to the airport in Sacramento and on a stormy Thursday boarded a flight to Denver where after a layover of a few hours I would be flying on to Chicago, Midway.  Airplanes are entertaining in the sense that you are afforded a group of strangers who must spend several hours together in cramped quarters. Sometimes I will channel animals connected to those who I am sitting with. On one of the flights, a woman who had a fear of flying was flying with her daughter of college age. He daughter kept trying to calm her down and she was nervous about everything that was going on in the plane, she kept asking if various sounds etc., were normal.

After we had taken off I revealed what kind of work I do. The woman and her daughter asked about one of their animals. In attempting to make a connection I saw an older screen door that had a wooden frame and that opened outward on hinges. Bother the woman and her daughter said that they did not have a screen door like that, theirs was a slider. I then heard the number 16 to which I saw a cat being connected to it and the screen door. The woman then told me that she had a screen door like the one I described at their last house and that a cat who would be 16 now had gone missing outside that very door.

The flight went by very quickly and after landing the woman and daughter expressed appreciation for the connections as well as the very distracting conversation which kept her from panicking on the flight. She mentioned that on a previous flight she ended up on the floor of the aircraft with a flight attendant holding her. Once I had exited the aircraft and met my host for my stay in the Chicago area, I picked up my luggage and we drove a little over an hour to the south of Chicago, to a town called Beecher.

For the duration of my stay I was the a guest at a private residence among the cornfields and horse ranches on the outskirts of Beecher, about a city block from the state line with Indiana. When we pulled up to the 100 year old farmhouse I was staying at I briefly was concerned that there might be a presence in the house, to my relief it was ghost free and I found myself soon making good friends with a dog named Johnson. Chris and Diana showed me great warmth and hospitality and I greatly enjoyed my stay at the farm house. It was like a bed and breakfast, I quickly adjusted to central time and enjoyed my morning cup of coffee while taking in the view of the fields and gently rolling hills.

After sleeping in the first morning, I went over to the stables and met the horses and barn cats. Later that Friday evening I had the fundraiser I was doing for the dog rescue up in the city, but for now I was free to connect with the horses that I had only previously met telepathically. Several of the cats and horses connected with me and I greatly enjoyed my morning and afternoon. I had a few phone readings that I knocked out from the house and then after a bit we headed up to Chicago Party Animals on Fulton in Chicago where the fundraiser party was taking place. I had a few private in person readings before the event got underway and with not a minute to spare we made it to the venue.

The private readings went very well and then it was time for the fundraiser to get underway. People were hunting for parking, getting stuck in traffic and so we started late as people were still arriving. After a quick introduction by Daniel, I went on and after a brief lecture and had fielded a few general questions, I began the portion of the evening that everyone had been waiting for.

An open channeling session is what I call it when I simply bring through animals that I see coming in of their own accord, and not necessarily those that people are wishing to connect with. By doing an open session I can for the most part eliminate what I call “line jumpers” or those who show up on occasion instead of the individual I am being asked to connect with. After an open channeling session of 30 minutes or so I will then switch to a focused channeling session where I will call on members of the audience who have raised their hand and who then provide me the name of an animal to connect with followed by a quick question for them. This approach works equally well for living or deceased animals.

The first connection I had coming through was a dog who had been disabled. I saw a harness for the back legs being assembled, but never completed or utilized, like the animal had crossed over before ever using the harness. A woman in the crowd raised her hand and after I called on her, she confirmed that was her dog coming through. She had built a harness for him and just before it was completed the dog had died. The dogs message was that even though he never had a chance to use the harness, that it meant a lot to him that she had put the effort forward to help him and that it did not go unnoticed.

After I was done with the dog with the harness, I looked over to the left side of the room and saw a monkey standing against the wall. Since this was a dog rescue fundraiser I was surprised to see an animal that walks upright coming through. I brought forward to the crowd that I had an animal coming through that walked upright. Briefly flashing on videos I have seen where dogs who have their front legs either missing or disabled, have learned to walk upright I realized that this was no dog. The monkey informed me that they were not a dog or an ape and that they were a Capuchin monkey.

As I brought forward the monkey and described them to the audience, the same woman who had the dog with the harness raised her hand and claimed a connection to the monkey. When she was younger her mother had a jeweler she would frequent. This jeweler owned a monkey that sat in a cage on one of his display cases. In order to entice her young daughter to accompany her at the jewelers, the mother would remind her daughter that once there she could visit with and play with the monkey. The girl began to look forward to her visits with the monkey. The monkey from her childhood was coming through to confirm that she too enjoyed those visits and looked forward to them as well. Very touching.

The rest of the evening was a blur as the connections pick up their pace and as the crowd loosened up and really got into it. After I was done and the last door prize had been raffled off, I hung around a bit and had the opportunity to meet some of the people whom I had channeled animals for. I made some great connections with people who greatly appreciate the work that I do and who themselves care greatly about animals and their welfare. With the launch party declared a success and talk of making the evening an annual event, we left and returned to Beecher for the evening.

The following day, Saturday was filled with private readings for those who had attended the event the prior evening. After spending the morning taking care of email and voice mail as well as working with the horses at the stables, we returned to Chicago. Before connecting with people from the prior evening I had a request to make a house call in old town and we headed out to the north end of downtown Chicago.

There was a woman who had some dogs who were overly aggressive to visitors and she was looking for help in dealing with their behavior. As promised, when I entered the home, two of her dogs went into full attack mode, everything short of actually biting, very aggressive barking and flashing their teeth as well as the whites of their eyes. After entering the kitchen/dining room, we sat down to talk about their behavior, pretty soon one of the dogs came over to me and began licking my hand and saying that he was sorry for his display of aggression.

I realized that there were a few issues that could be addressed. For one thing when the animals would go off barking and showing an aggressive display, the woman of the house would strongly react. She would become anxious and stressed out herself, while trying to get the animals to stop, she would get agitated and seemed to only feed their behavior. I told her that they were simply trying to be good guard dogs and that to help them she should tell them thank you for alerting us to a possible threat and now that you (the dogs) have done so, we can take it from here. In addition, if she and her husband told the dogs that while they are home they can watch things, and the dogs can relax until they are gone or in bed, and then it’s the dog’s turn to keep watch.

Secondly a lot of what was going on was that every guest who came over was subjected to the same treatment I had received and that by doing so, the visit became one about the dogs and their behavior and not about the guest and their reason for visiting. So if they instead put the dogs in time out for such behavior instead of having to explain it to their guests and then having  one of the dogs coming over to lick the hand of the guest after the show of aggression, they could restore the visits to being focused on the guest and not the dogs who had figured out how to make every visit from someone into an event that was focused on them.

By rewarding the good behaviors and by setting small goals and by ignoring/properly responding to the bad behaviors and by taking the focus off of the dogs during visits and using a time out room if needed, I expect that in time order will be restored. My favorite part of the visit was when I was working with the dog who has proven to be the most aggressive. I was warned that he has bitten or nipped in the past. He was sitting on his bedding in the dining room, I then asked the dog if I could sit beside them. I was cautioned that when the housekeeper tries to clean near the dogs bedding that the dog becomes very aggressive and does not tolerate people coming near their bedding.

I simply sat on the edge of the bedding and pretty soon the dog began scooting closer and before long a paw was resting on my lap, by the time I was done we had really connected I was petting them as they lay beside me. Even the most savage (acting) animal wants to be loved and understood. I also spoke to the owners about using positive reinforcement with the way that they discuss their dogs behavior. I have high hopes that before too long the dogs will be much more relaxed and open to visits and will only go on the attack when needed.

Kristin, Milo and Charles Peden

My next series of in person readings was due to begin soon and so we left old town for the west side of Chicago and soon found ourselves at Bark Avenue Playcare on Fulton. Above their facilities is a photography studio and we utilized that space for private readings. My favorite connection that day was with Milo and Kristin. This was my first chance to meet Milo in person. I was cautioned that he does not seem to like men very much, however he would not stop giving me kisses for the longest time, finally someone grabbed a camera and got a few photos of the last few kisses he gave me.

Charles Peden with Milo the dog whose life was saved by telepathic communication.

Once done with the private readings we returned to Beecher and turned in for the evening. The following morning we woke up to a change in the weather, for my visit so far, the weather had been in the sixties and clear, now it was wet and windy with a chance of snow being forecast for a little later in the week. We began the day by attending to the horses at the stables and after mucking stalls, feeding and watering them I got ready for the afternoons event that was scheduled to begin around 2 pm. Prior to that I had one in person reading to do with a couple who could not stay for the event, after their reading was done people began showing up and I took a few minutes to relax before going on and doing a lecture followed by a group reading.

The event for the ABU Arabian Horse Club of Beecher was well attended and after my talk I began channeling. The first few connections were a bit rough with people not claiming them right away or with them completely forgetting about the animals coming through until later in the evening. After awhile things really picked up and many horses as well as other animals connected – including a lama. One of my favorite connections was this large black stallion that came through early on, he was bringing forward a message about how much he was sorry for having thrown his person and injuring them. No one claimed a connection to him until a gentleman arrived late. He jokingly asked his wife if “Cricket” had come through apologizing about the “moonshot” bucking he had delivered to the gentleman and the subsequent injury he received. I realized that this was the horse that had not yet been claimed and sure enough we got a confirmation.

After the event was done I had several private readings to attend to. One of my favorite private sessions involved a woman’s mother who I saw standing behind her daughter during the private session. When I described the woman and her style of glasses, the woman confirmed that was indeed her mother with her and that she was very much aware of her presence in her life, since her passing. After everyone had left we turned in for the evening and I began thinking about what I had scheduled for the next day – going out in person and looking for Queenie the missing dog.

Monday morning was foggy and cool, we drove nearly two hours away and to Mallard Lake Preserve east of O’Hare. We met up with a few other searchers, volunteers with the PACT Humane Society and after trying to get a read on Queenie’s location at the preserve – with no luck, we headed out. I typically do not search for missing animals in person, I simply make a telepathic connection with them and if they wish to be found, recovery usually takes place fairly quickly. Queenie had been missing now for months, with no additional sightings and I figured that this was a “hail Mary” pass, and that the odds were stacked against us, however being in Chicago right before the winter set in I figured it was worth one more attempt.

Prior to coming out to the preserve I had repeatedly told Queenie where to meet us and she had several days to get into position to be easily located. As it turned out she was not cooperating and after a few hours of wandering around in an area that seemed to be to her liking I called off my involvement in the search. If I had been receiving additional details as to her location within the preserve we would have continued looking, however if an animal does not wish to be located we could have been within ten feet of her and never known about it. Greatly disappointed, we left and decided to swing by a pet store and treat our dogs. We had brought Johnson a chocolate lab mix with us and my red healer, Peaches was back home in California.

As we went through the store I asked Johnson what he wanted and he picked out some treats for himself. I looked for a squeaky toy and some treats for her as well. While shopping for my dog I had a telepathic conversation with her where she let me know what type of treats she wanted and after checking out we returned to Beecher. Two hours later in Beecher I was on the phone with my wife when she mentioned Peaches telling her about a squeaky toy, I then told her that I had indeed purchased one for her. My wife said that Peaches had brought it to her attention 2 hours ago. I checked my receipt, I had purchased the toy and treats exactly 2 hours earlier. Diana, (my host for my stay) had overheard our conversation and asked me to ask my wife what color the squeaky toy was, without hesitation my wife replied that it was orange – it was.

Tuesday was originally going to be spent continuing to look for Queenie, provided that she was helping with locating her position, she was not cooperative and so instead I had some time to work with the horses in person. I spent the day mucking stalls, working the horses on their jumps in the arena and feeding and watering them. Tuesday evening was colder than all the other days I had been there and so on Wednesday we returned to the stables and I once again worked with the horses.

One of the horses in particular had an issue with men, Tia was known to shy away from men and she avoided them at all costs, so I was determined to connect with her. This time instead of just feeding, watering and cleaning stalls I also brushed all of the horses and put their blankets on. One of the horses had never worn a blanket before and when I dressed him, he took to it right away without fuss. When I approached Tia she was at first a bit shy, however pretty soon I had her brushed too and in her cold weather gear. She and I connected very well, she responds to a gentle approach and most men had tried to force their will on her which she would then reject. I really enjoyed spending time with her, and all the other horses for that matter.

During my last few days staying at the farmhouse in Beecher I had bonded very closely with Johnson and he had taken to sleeping with me each night, he made a wonderful bed mate and on my last day he was moping about – he’s not good with saying goodbye. As I waited for my flight at Midway, the first real snow of the season hit and I realized I was leaving just in time. My flight home was filled with my channeling animals connected to those sitting beside me and time passed quickly. I look forward to my next trip and to what adventures lie ahead. A heartfelt thank you goes out to those I connected with in Chicago, I will reflect fondly on the warmth of the hospitality that I found in the windy city.

Florida was proving to be a lot of fun and busy. The prior day, my first full day in Florida had begun early and ended late, so late in fact that when I got in the night before, my hosts had already turned in for the evening. After showering, eating a bowl of cereal and enjoying a cup of Peet’s coffee it was time to head out, but there was one more thing I had to do before I could head out for the day. I told my host about my wife and her sand story, my host informed me that just five minutes and I would be walking onto the beach. I had a few minutes before my first client of the day showed up and so I took a walk through the neighborhood and down to the beach, eight houses away.

It was a brilliant morning with the sun already warming the air and the sand. I took out my cell phone and made a video clip of the walk to the beach and then sent it to my wife who was asleep at home in California. I then took out a plastic zip-lock baggie and filled it with sand while filming the whole thing with my phone. I then sent the clip of me collecting the sand to my wife. Mission accomplished, now I could return to focusing on chatting with animals and those who had already passed on to the other side.

After returning to the home I was staying at, my first appointment of the day pulled up and we drove to where she is boarding her horse. After driving for about fifteen minutes, we pulled up to some polo fields and a very spacious horse boarding and riding facility. After we parked, we walked up to the stalls and she introduced me to her horse. Though he is not named Trigger, that’s what I will call him for this story. His person (we will call her Joan) had a few questions for Trigger. Her first question was regarding an individual by the name of “Cory” (once again not his real name.) Joan asked me if Trigger missed Cory. The first thing that I thought was that she was referring to another human, however Trigger immediately told me that he did not miss Cory, because Cory was with him nearly all the time. I then asked Trigger who Cory was, he told me that Cory was an eight year old horse who had passed and that he did not miss him because his spirit was with him. I relayed the information to Joan, she was shocked at how easily I had answered the question and with how detailed the response was. Pretty soon we had covered nearly all of her questions as well as taking in comments from Trigger.

With time left over before my next engagement, Joan asked one of the staff at the boarding facility, if they would like to use my services … the employee said yes and I connected with her horse who was in all places … NC, where I had just been. After channeling the staff members horse, another person who boards her horse at the facility was asked if she wanted me to communicate with her horse. She walked off shaking her head and made it clear that she thought that it was rubbish. However after watching the reactions of those who I was connecting with, she had a change of heart and asked me if I could chat with her horse too.

We walked around a bit and then walked up to meet her horse. He was a bit nippy and when I asked if he liked the facilities he nearly yelled at me that he was not happy. A bit taken aback, as every other horse had told me what a wonderful place it was, I dug deeper and asked him why he did not like it. He told me that he wanted his own barn and his own person. He told me that too many people handled him and that he wanted to be handled by only one person. I relayed the information back to the woman whose horse it was and she then confirmed his attitude. The horse was a former racehorse and he had at one time been blessed with his own personal trainer who would sleep near him and he was given a great deal of individual attention. Now he was being handled by the various staff at the facility and to make matters worse, his new person … handled other horses and not just him. We worked it out to where she would be the one to handle him and that she would limit or cut out the handling of the other horses at the boarding facility. After finishing up we drove though the polo fields (where Prince Charles used to play polo) and headed over to the Humane Society.

We arrived at the Vero Beach/Indian River County Humane Society about an hour early and my contact met me with a request to do a walkthrough of their facility so that I may have an opportunity to try and work with some of their more difficult to read animals. After spending about forty minutes with various animals at the shelter and recording my observations and communications to the staff that had been assigned to accompany me, I returned to the classroom where I was going to be giving my talk and demonstration of animal communication through telepathy. To me pet psychic is a very limiting term, when you consider that I can communicate with all species both wild and domestic, the term animal communicator makes far more sense.

Before I went on, the Humane Societies director of continuing education showed the audience (of roughly 60+) a short PSA spot that was set to air on local television stations in the upcoming weeks. The PSA was aimed at delivering the message that your animals will still retain their personalities after being spayed or neutered. The spot featured a cat dressed up like a carnival psychic complete with turban and crystal ball. The cat is telling other animals that he can see into the future, after they have been “fixed” and she still sees them being the same. It was pretty cute, funny and well timed. After the television spot had been shown, I was introduced and then it got real interesting.

I wanted to keep everything focused on our animals and how I became aware of my ability to communicate with living and deceased animals. Near the end of my “lecture” I planned to coach people on how they too can communicate like I do with animals and then I wanted to finish off my two hour appearance by channeling animals connected to those in the audience for the last hour. At one point during the Q&A portion of my talk I was asked a question I was hoping to avoid, make that two questions. A person in the audience asked if I could also communicate with the souls of departed humans, I looked to my contact at the Humane Society and thought I saw a gentle nod, as if to go ahead and answer the question. I then replied that “Yes” I can and that was how it really all began for me. Immediately a few additional hands went up, one of them publicly proclaimed that he too had connected with the spirits of loved ones who had passed and that until now he was too shy to say anything about it. A few others in the room echoed his sentiments and I felt that for some there it was a very powerful and cathartic moment. Then the second question … now I have been able to somehow avoid this question for about three years and oddly enough I was hit with it twice in the same day while in Florida.

The question was “Why does my dog eat cat poop?” I should point out that I can hear, feel, see, smell and taste information on a psychic level. I once had an owl describe the odor and flavor of frozen and then thawed in the microwave mouse followed by the flavor, smell and texture of a live mouse in comparison. I must say that after that experience, should the occasion ever arise where I have to choose between the frozen and thawed mouse versus the live mouse for dinner, it is very clear that the live mouse is better on every front. Frozen and microwaved mouse is to put it bluntly … an abomination, absolutely the worst thing I had every had the displeasure of tasting … until now. Let’s just say that I received a mixed reply to this question, some dogs seemed to indicate it was a territorial thing. If you eat the markings that one uses to mark their territory, it than becomes yours when you replace the cat’s poop with yours … it’s almost the ultimate insult to have your marking wrapped in the poop of another (often larger) animal. It’s like you just got punked. In addition some dogs indicated that it was a source of additional nutrients and that as natural scavengers who pretty much are willing to eat anything, they simply feel that there may still be a bit of nutrition left in whatever is left in the droppings in front of them.

After finishing the question and answer portion of my appearance, we took a short break and then we got started on the good stuff. I absolutely love what I do and working with a room full of people eager to connect with their animals was a treat. As I began I figured that instead of simply opening up to the animals who wanted to come through first, that I would call on the people one by one to let me know the name of the animal that they wished to connect with. I started with the woman on my left in the front row. She immediately unfolded a picture of her black cat, I then reminded everyone that I did not require a photograph and to please refrain from showing pictures to me … at least until after I had made the connection and described their animal back to them based upon a name alone. After connecting with the woman’s black cat I continued on down the front row of people, this time they did not volunteer photos and or descriptions of their animals as I made the connections and described their animals to them you could hear the occasional gasp from the audience.

After going through the entire first row I realized that as compelling as the technique that I was employing was, there was one major drawback. There were simply too many people present for me to be able to work with each person before I ran out of time, so I turned to the audience and asked if at that point everyone believed that I could talk to animals. I was pleased to hear a rousing “Yes!” from the audience and then I rolled out my new plan. Having to describe the animal back to the person, to prove my connection was eating up time so I simply asked the animal that they wanted me to connect with, the question that they had for them and went from there. This process was much quicker and I would spend less than thirty seconds going from one connection to the next. If it took me longer to connect I would simply pass on that person and move on to the next in line. I only had to skip about two individuals and everyone else was able to make a connection accept for a handful at the back of the room when I ran out of time.

One of the staff had offered to give me a ride to my next venue, the Inspired Heart where I had done a group reading and a handful of private readings the night before and now I was scheduled to return for a series of private individual readings. As I was walking out of the classroom at the Humane Society, I was “mobbed” by people who wanted me to connect with another animal for them or who simply wanted me to chat with them and answer additional questions etc., frankly I was tired from channeling and speaking and with going back on in an hour I needed some downtime. I ducked into a side office and asked the staff if I could “hideout” in their office for a minute. After everyone had left the room I finally exited, found my ride and we headed over to the Inspired Heart.

With twenty minutes before I was on again, I popped into a nearby deli, picked up a veggie-wrap and a bottle of water as well as a bottle of grapefruit juice, I was after all in Florida. I returned to the room where I had worked the night before and after taking off my shoes I sat down in front of the 1,700 pound crystal point to eat a quick bite before my first reading of the evening. A couple from the previous evening entered at one point and as they sat down I turned to the gentleman and asked him how he had slept the night before. I have never opened with that question before, it turns out that he was here for help with his lack of sleep. During the night he would toss and turn and have the worst pain in his head and neck. After “looking” at his body with my abilities I could see that he had two damaged vertebrae I could also see everything that he had done up until this point to try and alleviate the pain and discomfort. After pointing him in the direction of some options to assist him in returning to a pain free existence, we moved on to other areas of their lives and was able to provide much closure and understanding.

In one of the readings I had the ex-husband of the woman who was sitting with her current husband come through. The former husband had been passed for some time and was coming through to let the gentleman who was now with his wife know that not only did he approve, but that he genuinely liked the guy. He relayed to him how much it meant to him that he was able to bring happiness to his former wife. After several additional readings I was finally done with my work in Vero Beach.

My contact in Vero Beach and I then headed out to dinner at one of several fine eating establishments and enjoyed a wonderful Italian dinner. The following morning I had to take a shuttle service to Orlando and catch a flight to Chicago. After watching seven-hundred and fifty flights get canceled at Chicago I was a bit concerned about my flight the following morning. I packed that evening after checking in with my guides, they told me I would be in Chicago on schedule and so I figured that I would plan on going in the morning even if it looked sketchy. The next morning I was packed and ready to roll by eight forty-five and after checking the flights online, discovered that my flight was on time. The ride to the airport was fun as I had the opportunity to share my story with the driver and so the time flew. I positioned my heavy jacket, gloves and the like at the ready and boarded the plane for Chicago. Before leaving Florida though … I stopped at one of the gift shops in the airport and purchased shirts for the girls back home.

More about my adventures on the road can be found in my next blog entry … Chicago, the Windy City. To learn more about psychic medium and animal communicator Charles Peden, visit www.charlespeden.com.

After headlining the Robeson County Humane Society fundraiser in Lumberton, North Carolina at Pembrook College on the 5th and providing readings to the general public at the shelter the following day, I flew out of Raleigh on Sunday the 6th of February with my destination being Orlando, Florida. I had a transfer to another flight in Charlotte, our flight was held up on the runway prior to take off due to heavy traffic at Charlotte. With the mid-Atlantic under a blanket of snow that had been dubbed Snowmageddon by some, many flights were being diverted and Charlotte was taking in several unscheduled arrivals as planes were rerouted to locations that were not under several feet of snow.

With my flight delayed I found my connection in Charlotte to be very tight and I actually broke a sweat as I went from one end of the airport to the other in a rush to catch my connecting flight to Orlando. When I arrived at the gate, they were already boarding the plane and had just called out the seating group that I was a part of. US Airways was who I was flying on for the first few legs of my trip and I enjoyed the flights, no problems. My luggage was handled with care and when I volunteered to check my carry on luggage, they offered to fly it to my final destination. If I had a layover it would be taken off of the plane and transfered to my next flight. They accepted cash for purchases inflight and overall it went well.

With no time between flights and with both flights being brief, I had no opportunity to really get anything to eat and so when I landed in Orlando I was getting hungry. To make matters worse, my ride at the airport was late and then when we finally got on the road I realized that I simply could not wait until I got in to Vero Beach and have dinner, I had to eat something sooner than later. We pulled over at a Wendy’s and I got a baked potato with cheese and broccoli, a chocolate frosty and after eating I felt better. As much as I hate fast food, it does have a time and a place to some extent.

As I was visiting Florida after a cold snap, it was not hot nor humid when I arrived in Orlando, it was however far warmer than Lumberton had been and I found myself enjoying the warmer weather. After we got into Vero Beach, my contact had a dinner party at her home where several of her friends had gathered for an evening with a medium. It was a wonderful little house and we enjoyed good food, vegetarian lasagna, garden salad and cookies – all freshly prepared. At one point a person sitting near me at the table I was sitting at asked me a question and I began to answer her question … as I did so, it became suddenly very quiet and I realized that even those who were sitting in other parts of the room and who were no where near the table, were listening intently to everything I was saying.

A few minutes later I had not yet had another bite and nearly everyone else was done eating. Our evenings host came into the room and drew attention to the fact that I was the only one in the room who had not yet finished their food. After eating a bit more of what was on my plate I took my glass of wine to the living room and found a wonderful spot to sit down in front of the hearth and everyone else gathered around. The lights were gently dimmed and I then spent a few minutes telling everyone the story of how I came to become a believer in the paranormal and how I had gone from complete skeptic to practicing psychic medium in only four short months and how seven months later I found myself communicating with live animals.

After telling my story I opened up the room to a question and answer format which ended up taking far longer than anticipated as a few in the audience seemed convinced that I was going to explain all the mysteries of life in 30 minutes or less … needless to say by the time I started the channeling portion of the evening, several in attendance were more than ready.

I brought through at least two really strong connections with individuals on the other side who were connected to those in the room and then it happened … I went through one of the most difficult group readings I had done in some time. A lot of the material that I brought forward was not claimed by those present. As I was leaving and the following day I heard that several of the details that I had brought forward were being claimed … albeit after the reading was concluded and so I was a bit unhappy with the results of the evening. One of the things that came forward that evening which I thought was funny was a story told to me by the father of one of those present.

One of the woman had asked me to connect with her father. Pretty soon he started to come through and he had a story that he wanted to share with her. He told me that there was an issue with her swimsuit coming off or with her being immodest. I was also told that she had trouble in the water and an issue while swimming, while she was younger. She seemed very confused by the details coming forward and insisted that she had never had a problem with an immodest swimsuit and that she did not have trouble in the water. She then asked me where the trouble occurred. Her father told me that it was at the beach and not at a swimming pool. Once again he brought up the issue of a concern for her modestly. and with being in trouble while in the water. All of a sudden it hit her … she asked if it was regarding a visit to the beach in Hawaii. Sure enough it was, what had taken place though had been with a friend of hers from childhood and her father was not there. Well, the thing is that now that he has passed he can see all of her life, including the parts where he was still alive and she was “by herself”. He was trying to demonstrate how our lives are transparent on the other side, to those who are looking down upon us from “above.”

What had happened was that while at the beach in Hawaii,l she was getting hammered by huge waves that were crashing right at the waters edge. The surf was so powerful that when it would hit her and her friend, they would struggle to stay alive and the force was such that it was knocking off their swimsuits, she was about 14 at the time. This of course fit the description of the unclaimed details that her father had been providing to me. Moving on to the next set of details coming through regarding a Golden Gloves boxer … who was unclaimed until the following day … I proceeded to bring through detail after detail that went unclaimed and finally in frustration and with it getting late I pulled the plug on the readings and turned in for the evening.

I was lucky enough to have a wonderful couple open up their home to me. After arriving at their home later that evening I channeled one last time before turning in for the evening. The woman whose home it I was staying at had been at the group reading and was far more in tune with what I do than my contact whom had put the dinner party together. She and I chatted a bit about the energy in the room that evening and how it had been a challenge working with the group. She then asked me to connect with something for her husband. I “saw” what looked like a long metal object with an unusual curve on the end. I thought that perhaps it was a tool that utility workers would use. He said no connection with that to him and then I saw cattle and asked about it being a branding iron and connected with cattle. He said that yes he had done some branding before. I then heard Louis L’Amour and described the name coming through. It turned out that the gentleman was a huge fan of his and Louis had a message for him, letting him know that it brought him great happiness to see how much his works had entertained and enthralled the gentleman who I was channeling a message to. Once again confident in my abilities after a rough group reading, I turned in for the evening with anticipation of what lay in store for me in Florida. I had trouble sleeping as the sprinklers came on and the drops of water hitting the banana tree leaves made a racket, followed by the occasional thud provided by the coconuts dropping off of the trees in the yard.

part two coming soon …
